Traditional Open Water Diver

This is where it all begins.  A very enjoyable combination of knowledge and skills, this class introduces you to the mystery of the underwater world.  Taught in a safe and supportive environment, we allow you to learn and develop your skills in two nights of classroom and two nights of pool sessions in an indoor heated pool.  The check-out dives are held at Balmorhea State Park in the clear, balmy 76º waters of San Solomon Sprints.

As long as you are at least 10 years of age, in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water you can earn this certification.  The only physical requirement is that you are able to swim 200 yards without aid and be able to float/tread water for 10 minutes.  For equipment, you will need a mask, snorkel, fins, scuba boots, mesh bag, binder, safety tube and clip.  Please fell free to make an appointment to come in to the store and be custom fitted for those items.  Once you choose a suitable set of personal gear, we will give you a package discount on your purchase.  We provide all other gear at no additional cost!  When you earn this certification, you will have the freedom to rent or purchase gear at our shop and worldwide, and to dive to a maximum depth of sixty feet without the aid and direction of an instructor.

Current pricing is $400 for the class, which includes all study materials and equipment with the exception of mask, snorkel, fins, scuba boots, mesh bag, binder, safety tube and clip.  You will also be responsible for food, hotel, and travel.  Check our calendar for upcoming classes or call for private class information.

Traditional Advanced Open Water Diver

Are you ready for more adventure and challenge?  This program is designed to provide a rapid expansion of your knowledge, skill sets, and confidence and can be taken immediately after the completion of Open Water Diver.  Even with the additional challenge, we maintain personalized training to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone involved.

The best thing about Advanced Open Water Diver is that it is only a weekend course at Blue Hole and Perch Lake located in Santa Rosa, New Mexico.  You must be at least 12 years of age and will be required to purchase a diving light, blue glow stick and knife/sea snips or a line cutter in addition to your mask, snorkel, fins, and scuba boots.  We provide all other equipment at no additional cost!  It is a weekend chock full of diving adventure.

Upon completion of this certification, you will find yourself much more comfortable and secure while diving.  You will be able to reach the recreational diving limit of 130 feet and visit some dive sites that require this additional level of training.

Current pricing is $375 for the class, which includes all study materials and equipment with the exception of your mask, snorkel, fins, scuba boots, light, glow stick and cutting device.

Traditional Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox)

The Enriched Air Diver course (Nitrox) will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to safely enjoy every dive.  The two main benefits of diving on Nitrox include feeling more relaxed at the end of a long day of diving or a multi-day trip, and absorbing less nitrogen during each dive.   By absorbing less nitrogen you can increase your bottom times, increase the number of dives you  can do in a day and, most important, you will reduce you risk of decompression sickness.
Upon completion of this certification, you will know how to properly track the amount of oxygen building up in your system and how to verify the percentage of oxygen in your tank.
You must be at least 12 years of age and hold an Open Water or Jr. Open Water certification.  Since no dives are required, we can do one classroom at the store to receive this certification.  The cost of this class is $250 and includes all study materials.
You also have the option to  take the Nitrox class in conjunction with the Advanced class at Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, New Mexico.   You will do some of your Advanced dives using Nitrox on the weekend.  Also, by taking the two certification classes at the same time you receive a discounted class price of $225 for the Nitrox class and all the study materials are included.
